CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Two people were killed as bank of Padma River collapsed in Uzirpur No. 3 dam area under Shibpur upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Serajul Islam, 40, son of late Nursed Ali and Kudu Ali, 30, son of Tapuruddin of Babupur Baira Para of the upazila.

Locals said Serajur and Kudu were trapped under the soil of the bank when they went there to collect GO bags around 4:00am that left the duo dead on the spot.

Later, locals pulled out the bodies from the soil and informed police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibganj Thana MM Mainul confirmed the matter.
