BENAPOLE, JESSORE: Indian authorities on Sunday returned three Bangladeshi women who had become victim of human trafficking to the neighboring country two years back.
The returnees were identified as Kalpana Das, 28, daughter of Matin Das, of Jopypur village of Gangni Upazila of Meherpur district, Kalpana’s 10-year-old daughter Jojo Das, and Shipra Biswash, 30, of daughter of Basudeb Biswash of Dhoghali Upazila of Khulna district.
Police sources said the returnees went India illegally two years ago with the help manpower agents to seek jobs. As the agents left them they took jobs at a house there.
At one stage, Indian police detained them for illegal entry to the country, followed by sending them to prison. Later, authorities of a Kolkata-based shelter home freed them and brought them under its safekeeping.
Meanwhile, both countries sent back-to-back letters to bring those women home. Finally, Indian immigration police, using travel permit, handed over them to Bangladeshi immigration police at Benapole border on Sunday evening.
Benapole Port Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Nur Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
These women themselves went homes as no human rights came to receive them at the border, the SI said.
