DHAKA: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed said that the Election Commission (EC) ordered police to investigate the attack on Khaleda Zia’s motorcade during election campaigns and identify the criminals.

The CEC made the order at a press conference at EC’s media centre in city Thursday afternoon.

Earlier, a three-member delegation of BNP met CEC.

While querying about the issues of the meeting, Kazi Rakibuddin said the delegation requested to give judicial power to the army.

In response of the request, CEC said “the army will do their duties as per law and we trust them”.

Earlier, a group of miscreants attacked Khaleda Zia’s motorcade with brick chips and wooden sticks, leaving scores injured and several vehicles damaged.
