Security tightened in city

DHAKA: Law enforcers have tightened security by establishing check-posts in several important points across the capital city over the upcoming polls.

Moreover, additional surveillance has been put on driving motorcycles.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia confirmed the matter to banglanews on Sunday.

He further said the checking and additional security measures, which began on wee hour of Sunday, will continue till 12:00am on April 28.

Law enforcers will check vehicles except those carrying local-foreign poll observers, election commission (EC) officials and the media persons.

Rampura Thana operation officer Mustafizur Rahman told banglanews the additional security measures have been taken to avert any untoward situation during the city polls, set to be held in Dhaka and Chittagong on April 28.
