DHAKA: Declining comment on allegations of irregularities, firing, vote rigging and vandalism at some poling centers, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed on Tuesday asked the journalists to “show” those incidents on media.
He talked to the journalists after visiting Residential Model School and College in city at noon.
Earlier around 12:00pm in the day, CEC left his secretariat office to visit the centers without informing journalists.
Later, following his vehicle, journalists reached Kakoli High School and College voting center. Later they reached Residential Model School and College where the CEC talked to journalists.
Then he left the center without informing anyone. Hoping to know CEC’s whereabouts, journalists called his personal secretary, who said he did not know which center he (CEC) went to visit.
Not only journalists, several commissioner candidates also tried to talk about “irregularities” at the polling centers but failed to talk to Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed for the bars of police.
Meanwhile, Election Commission (EC) secretary Sirajul Islam has made journalists entry at EC “limited” from this morning.
On the other hand, BNP-endorsed candidates quit polls in all three city corporations alleging “massive irregularities”.
