DHAKA: Miscreants damaged some parts of decoration of the tomb of former president Ziaur Rahman and also BNP founder, inside Chandrima Uddyan in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
Sources of BNP’s media wing informed banglanews on Thursday morning. Later, banglanews visited the grave to get update.Several marble plates were found displaced there. It was unclear that who pulled out the marbles and when they did so.
Miaznur Rahman, cleaner of Zia’s grave, told banglanews that like everyday he came to clean the place in the morning and found some pieces of marbles displaced.
However, no more sign of damage was seen anywhere in the grave.
On information, Dhaka Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner (Tejgaon zone) Biplob Kumar Sarkar visited the place.
Police were looking into the matter and would investigate on what happened there, Biplob told banglanews.
