CHITTAGONG: Customs intelligence detained two traffic department employees with 40 gold bars, worth of nearly Tk 2.30-crore, at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.

The gold bars were seized from a Dubai Air flight on Sunday morning.

The detainees were identified as Belal Hossain and Sheikh Kamal, employees of traffic department.

Customs intelligence department source said on tips-off, they held Belal and Kamal and seized 40 gold bars, weighing around 4.5-kg.

Legal action against the detainees is being taken, the intelligence officers informed banglanews.
