Dhaka: A clash between readymade garment workers and owners left at least 15 people wounded and around 10 vehicles vandalized in city`s Della intersection area under Demra Thana on Tuesday morning.

Police and workers said Zoom Sweater factory`s workers waged a movement for back pay while the officials of the factory “attacked” them and injured four workers named Jibon, Jashim, Mashum and Russel.

Sources said hundreds of workers of the factory went on the rampage in the factory after hearing about the attack. Some of owner`s officials tried to pacify the workers, but the angry workers assaulted and injured four of them.

The agitated workers blocked Della intersection and damaged around 10 vehicles. On information, Demra Thana police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.

Managing director of the factory Dr. Abdul Majid Talukdar said, “Some workers created anarchy on illogical demand and also assaulted our officials.”

AC ASM Murad of Demra Thana said police tamed the workers by assuring them that their demand would be fulfilled.
