COX’SBAZAR: Gunfight between a group of dacoits and police left four policemen hurt in Chakaria Upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

Moreover, police detained a bullet-hurt dacoit identified as Khorshed Alam Chhotan (37) during the fight that took place in Phasiakhali Bridge area on Chakaria-Alikadam road at 1:00pm in the day.

The injured police personnel, including sub-inspectors (SI) Ruhul Amin and Shahadat Hossain, constables Bikash Chakma and Chanchal Kumar, were admitted at Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.

Besides, the bullet-hurt dacoit Khorshed, son of Korban Ali of Sikdarpara village of the area, is admitted at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) in the port city.

Police said a group of 10/12 dacoits took position in Phasiakhali Bridge area to commit robbery. On tips-off, police conducted the drive.

Sensing the presence of police, the dacoits fired gunshots and police fired back for self-defense.

Later, police arrested bullet-hurt Khorshed from the place after other dacoits retreat the scene.
