NILPHAMARI: A district court sentenced eight people to life imprisonment and fined Tk 1 lakh each for killing an elderly woman.

The life-timers were—Golam Mostofa, Abdul Mannan, Abdul Hannan, Abdus Salam, Abdul Mazid, Nur Islam, Akbar Ali and Yakub Ali.

District and Session Judge Mahmudul Kabir passed the order on Tuesday afternoon some 13 years after the murder.

Case statement reads- the convicted men strangled Kalthi Begum, 75, wife of late Shamser Ali on October 22 in 2002.
