DHAKA: A mother of two children allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling at her residence in South Pirerbag area of Mirpur in city Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sonia, 35, wife of M Sharif, hailed from Baniachang Upazila of Habiganj district. The couple has two sons – Sayer, 5, and Kawsar, 2.

Deceased’s husband Sharif told banglanews that he left the house for work in the morning, keeping his wife and children there. In the meantime, Sonia killed herself by hanging from ceiling.

Family members rescued her and rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. Later, she was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctor pronounced her dead.

DMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sentu Chandra Das confirmed the matter to banglanews.

However, the man claimed that he knew nothing about why her wife committed suicide.
