DHAKA: The 26th annual parliamentary seminar of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is set to begin in city on May 18 with the spirit of strengthening the parliamentary democracy.
The four-day seminar will be inaugurated at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on that day.
The public relations division of Jatiya Sangsad confirmed the matter to banglanews on Thursday.
A total of 45 parliamentarians and delegates under 27 categories from various countries of nine regions of Commonwealth will join in the seminar.
Local and foreign parliamentarians including incumbent chairperson of CPA Dr Shirin Dharmin Chowdhury, also speaker of Bangladesh parliament will address issues in 13 sessions.
Five experienced parliamentarians are expected to join as main speaker in five sessions from Bangladesh.
However, Speaker of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was elected as CPA Chairperson in October of 2014.
CPA plays a great role in establishing democracy, good governance, human rights and economic self-sufficiency in Commonwealth countries.
