MUNSHIGANJ: An Army Major was killed and three other officials injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Gazaria Upazila of the district Friday noon.

The deceased was identified as Major Fazlul Qaium of Bangladesh Army. He was posted at Rangpur Cantonment.

Gazaria Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Ferdaus Hossain told banglanews four army persons were returning to Dhaka by a private car after attending a training program at Comilla cantonment.

The driver lost his control over the steering at Baluakandi area and hit roadside trees that deformed the car, leaving four army officers injured around 12:30pm.

The injured were taken to Sonargaon Health Complex where on duty doctor declared Major Fazlul Qaium dead on arrival.

The other injured were sent to Dhaka, he added.
