COX’S BAZAR: Police detained an alleged member of an international human trafficking gang in Hillar Leda area under Teknaf upazila of the district Friday night.

The detainee was identified as Yusuf, 55, whose details could not be known.

Police sources said that tipped-off, a team of lawpersons nabbed Yusuf in the area around 10:00pm.

Yusuf’s son Tayeb is reportedly one of the 11 members of an international trafficking gang. The father worked here in Bangladesh on behalf of his son, added the sources.

Teknaf Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Ataur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

A lawsuit was filed against the detainee, followed by producing him before the court, said the OC.
