CHANPAINAWABGANJ: Two children were drowned in a river in Shibganj upazila of the district on Monday.

The victims have been identified as Anik (2), son of Nazim Uddin and Riyadh Hossain (1 and a half year), son of Sohel Rana of Kansat Bazar area of the upazila.

Locals said that the children were playing near the sluice-gate on river Pagla this morning. At one stage, they slipped into the river.

After recovering the kids, locals and family members rushed to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Shibganj Upazila Health Complex health official Dr Tarit Kumar Saha confirmed the matter to banglanews.
