Bangabandhu family gets all facilities

DHAKA: Government asked the authorities concerned to provide all facilities including security to the family members of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under the “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Family Members Security Act of 2009”.

A circular signed by Dr M Mozammel Haque Khan, senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, was issued on the matter on Monday.

The circular said that government will ensure the privileges of protection and benefits to Bangabandhu’s family under the section no. 4(3) of the Act.

According to the Act, the ‘family member’ means two surviving daughters of Bangabandhu – Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana – and their children as well.

Government will provide 24-hour foolproof security to the family and bring their residences and its adjacent area under close circuit camera surveillance.

Persons and objects will be scanned before entering the residences. One or more emergency exit will be built at their residences. Adequate numbers of security personnel will remain deployed all time.

The circular said that if any establishment, near to their residences, may pose threat shall be removed or relocated. Dwellers of neighboring high rise buildings will come under watch for 24 hours.

A fire fighting vehicle and necessary equipments will remain prepared for all time. An ambulance with full-fledge facilities will be kept ready at their residences. Government will also arrange the treatment abroad for the family members.

Government will also provide vehicles, fuel and chauffeur facilities. The family members will be provided with facilities of gas, telephone, electricity and high-speed internet connections, and water supply at government expense.

The family members will also be entitled to the services of a personal secretary, two waiters, a cook, a gardener and a cleaner at government expense.

Besides these facilities, if the family members require anymore services or necessary equipments, the authorities concerned will make these available for them, according to the circular.
