DHAKA: Detained Ashraf Khan Tushar and driver Lovlu were placed on a 10-day remand for interrogation over the gang rape of a Garo woman inside a running microbus in Kuril-Bishwa road area.
Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Kumar Dey has granted police 10 days to grill them on Thursday afternoon after the hearing on remand plea.
Earlier in the day, Investigation Officer, also officer-in-charge of Bhatara Thana, produced the accused before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court with a 10-day remand plea on Thursday morning.
On Tuesday night, Teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the two suspects from Dhaka and Patuakhali in the case of a gang rape of woman inside a microbus in city’s Kuril area.
RAB legal and media wing director Mufti Mahmood Khan told the media on Wednesday that the duo confessed their guilt in preliminary interrogation.
The accused raped the woman inside the microbus alluring her with the promise of discussing a better job offer, the RAB officer added.
Five youths dragged the girl into a microbus at Kuril Biswa Road and later she was gang-raped inside a running microbus on Thursday night.
