DHAKA: A Dhaka court sent Helal Uddin, suspended Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilgaon Thana to jail for serving there 3-year for torturing on a Dhaka University student Abdul Qader.

First Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M Alamgir Kabir passed the order Sunday after hearing.

Earlier in the day, Helal Uddin surrendered before court and plead for bail. 

On May 17, the same court jailed him for three years.

According to case statement, some plainclothes police detained DU student Abdul Qader in the early hours of July 15, 2012 while he was returning to Fazlul Haque Hall of Dhaka University from one of his relatives' residence in city’s Eskaton area.

In his case, Qadar alleged that he was severely tortured in police custody. And police filed fake cases against him.
