PABNA: Two people were killed as a pick-up van run them over on Pabna-Dhaka highway in Madhupur Bazar area under Sadar upazila of the district Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mahiul Alam Sadhu, 50, son of Dr Hossain Ali of Madhupur village and Abdur Rahman, 52, son of Muttalib Hossain of the same village.

Witnesses said a speedy pick-up van run over Mahiul and Abdur when they were walking beside the road along with other devotees after morning prayer around 7:30am, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

The pick-up van driver, Baki, 20, was also severely injured in the accident.

The locals rushed him to the Pabna Medical College and Hospital and seized the vehicle.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Ataikula Thana Faijul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
