DHAKA: Immediately after starting for National Memorial at Savar, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted four tweets on his twitter in both Bengali and English.
In first tweet, he said, “Hello Bangladesh. I bring with me the affection & goodwill of the people of India.”
In second one, he added, “Thank you PM Sheikh Hasina for the warm welcome. I look forward to a very good visit that will strengthen ties between India & Bangladesh.”
The Indian premier will pay tributes to martyrs of the 1971 liberation war.
Earlier in the day, a special flight of Indian Air Force carrying the Narendra Modi and his entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:10am Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed her Indian counterpart at the airport. Later Modi was given a warm red carpet reception and Guard of Honour.
His two-day visit to Bangladesh will highlight the connectivity and security issues apart from signing of a number of instruments and deals, aiming to take the ties between the two neighbouring countries to a newer height.
