Titas cuts illegal gas connections in Ashulia

ASHULIA, DHAKA: Authorities of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd disconnected illegal gas connections in different areas in Ashulia of Savar upazila, outskirts of Dhaka city, on Thursday.

However, the connections were allegedly provided by influential people.

Teams of Titas authorities in presence of deputy manager of Savar Titas Gas and Distribution Company deputy manager Engineer Atikul Islam and Anwar Hossian conducted the drives at noon in several villages of Jirani Bazar of Ashulia.

Locals obstructed Titas teams as they got the connection, paying from Tk 30,000 to Tk 40,000 to influential people.

Titas conducted the drives as production in different industries and factories in Jirani Bazaar area were being disrupting due to illegal gas connections in the area.

Additional police were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation.
