DHAKA: Ekushey Padak awardee, also advisory editor of Bengali daily Ittefaq, Habibur Rahman Milon passed away at a city’s hospital early Sunday.
Habibur Rahman, who was the chairman of Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB), breathed his last at Labaid Specialized Hospital around 3:00am.
Earlier on June 2, the veteran journalist, who had long been suffering from kidney and other ailments, were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
However, the body has been kept at his family residence in city’s Eskaton area.
Aditi Rahman, daughter of Habibur Rahman, told banglanews that first Namaz-e-Janaza of her father will be held at the residence at 1:00am, followed by the second Janaza at National Press Club after Zuhr prayer.
The body will be taken to PIB office, to be paid homage by all there. Then, it will be kept at the mortuary of BIRDEM, she added.
The journalist’ another daughter Dr Lopa, who lives in Australia, will arrive in city on Monday.
After her arrival, Habibur Rahman will be laid to rest at National Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in city’s Mirpur.
