DHAKA: An iftar for war-wounded freedom fighters (FFs), orphans, physically-challenged children and alem-ulema (Islamic scholars) was hosted by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence in city on Saturday.
The premier went round different tables and enquired about the well-being of the guests.
Before the iftar, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque senior pesh imam Maulana Mijanur Rahman conducted a special munajat seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of the August 15 massacre, four national leaders, martyrs of the war of independence and heroes of democratic movements.
Religious affairs minister Principal Matior Rahman, social welfare minister Mohsin Ali, liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Huq, PM's principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad and press secretary Ihsanul Karim, among others, were present at the program.
