DHAKA: Myanmar is thinking to take legal action against Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Nayek Abdur Razzaq, who was kidnapped by Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP), for illegal entry.
However, Bangladesh has protested the incident of publishing the picture Abdur Razzak on Facebook and urged Myanmar to return the BGB man.
Bangladesh ambassador to Myanmar Mohammad Sufiur Rahman protested the incident in a meeting with foreign ministry permanent secretary of Myanmar on Saturday.
BGB also demanded the return of Nayek Abdur Razzaq protesting the alleged incident. Despite repeated urges of BGB for holding flag meeting, BGP did not respond.
Earlier on June 17, BGP abducted BGB Nayek Abdur Razzak. Following the incident, the foreign affairs ministry on Thursday summoned the Myanmar ambassador to Dhaka Myo Myint Than and condemned the incident and urged him to return the abducted BGB man.
On condition of anonymity, a foreign ministry official said the Bangladeshi ambassador again urged the Myanmar authorities to send back Razzak.
However, Myanmar claimed that its border police have arrested Abdur Razzak from their territory. According to the law, he is considered as an intruder.
Foreign ministry sources also said the Bangladesh ambassador opposed BGP claim and urged them to release the BGB man.
The ambassador condemned the release of a uniformed officer’s bloodstained image tied with handcuffs on Facebook.
From Thursday, two pictures of Nayek Abdur Razzaq were released in different social media. In one picture, the BGB man was shown handcuffed and tied with chain to a generator.
Nayek Razzaq’s face and nose were shown bloodstained.
In the other image, a gun, 22 bullets, four cell phones, a long dagger, one knife, two torch lights, several firearms were kept in front of him. The picture showed him wearing a lungi.
Various international media claimed that Myanmar authorities have released those two photos of BGB man.
