DHAKA: Thousands of ticket-seekers thronged Kamalapur Railway Station from early Thursday as advance ticket sale ahead of Eid-ul Fitr has started there.
Some are enjoying after getting much-desired tickets to travel sweet home for celebrating Eid-ul Fitr with dear and near ones while some are disappointed getting no ticket.
Bangladesh Railway started selling advance tickets for July 13 and will continue the sale for July 14, 15, 16 and 17 from July 10, 11, 12 and 13 respectively.
After holidays, advance tickets in Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat stations will be sold in special arrangements.
The Eid-ul Fitr will be celebrated in Bangladesh on July 18 or 19, subject to the sighting of moon.
The return tickets to east and west regions will be available from July 16 to 20.
The sale of return tickets will be continued for July 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 from July 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 respectively.
Seven pairs of special trains, including two pairs for Sholakia Special from Eid day, will be run for three days before the Eid and five days after the holidays end.
Regarding security and ticket blackers, station manager Sitangshu Chakrabarti said huge police have been deployed to check ticket blackings. Besides, plain dressed police, Ansar and armed police have also been deployed in the station.
