DHAKA: Authorities concerned were asked not to ply any truck, lorry and covered van on highways from three days before and after upcoming Eid-ul Fitr.
Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Qader made the announcement at an inter-ministry meeting at BIAM auditorium in city on Tuesday.
He said the decision has been taken to ease traffic congestion during the Eid.
But, vehicles carrying medicine and perishable goods will remain out of the purview, he added.
Rail minister Mazibul Hoque, shipping minister Shahjahan Khan, LGED state minister Mashiur Rahaman Ranga, secretaries of different ministries and police high-ups attended the meeting.
