DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department, in warning message, said due to heavy monsoon, steep pressure gradient persists over north of the Bay of Bengal.
Under its influence, squally weather may continue over the north of Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, the met office added.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north of Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Besides, inland river port warning message said, “In association with rain or thunder showers temporary south or south-easterly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar wherein river ports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two”.
Moreover, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary south or south-easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal number one.
