DHAKA: The High Court (HC) ordered Sunday to stop within 24-hr the construction of car parking demolishing the wall of heritage Lalbagh Fort at Old Dhaka.
An HC bench comprising Justice Kazi Reza Ul Haque and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman passed the order following a writ petition in the morning.
The authority demolished part of the massive ancient wall surrounding Lalbagh Fort, which had been built over 400 years during Mughals regime in Dhaka, for building a car parking there.
The action has drawn protests from a number of quarters.
