DHAKA: President Abdul Hamid signed the national budget for 2015-16 FY, soon after the lawmakers passed it at Jatiya Sangsad.

The president signed the budget, of Tk 295,100-crore, on Tuesday afternoon, Sangsad secretariat informed the media.

Earlier in the day, the budget bill was passed by voice vote after some 57 hours of discussion by 219 lawmakers.

During the discussion, the lawmakers expressed their hope that the budget will lead the country towards prosperity.

On June 4, finance minister AMA Muhith proposed a Tk 295,100-crore budget with a target of attaining 7.0 percent GDP growth in the financial year.
