GAZIPUR: Two people, including a minor girl, were crushed under wheels of a train in Joydebpur in Dhaka-Mymensingh rail route on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as A Motaleb, 70, of Sreepur in Gazipur. Hawa Akter, 12, daughter of Moslem Uddin, hailed from Maymensingh.

Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound Jamuna Express train crushed the duo in Shahpara area, near to Joydebpur station, around 10:00am while they were trying to cross the rail track, leaving them dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Joydebpur Government Railway Police (GRP) sub-inspector Dadan Mia told banglanews that the dead bodies will be sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

A case was filed with Kamalapur Thana in this connection, he added.
