DHAKA: Lawmaker Nurjahan Begum raised demand in the parliament to impose ban on Nestle’s Maggi noodles as the company failed to maintain safety standard.
Maggi noodles have been banned in India, Singapore and Nepal following the allegations of high levels of lead and MSG, she said drawing the attention of Speaker on Sunday afternoon.
She added Maggi Noodles worth over TK 400 crores have been damaged in lone India as 17 percent lead was found in it.
These noodles can kill the baby in the womb of mother, even can lead to cancer, she again said demanding Commerce Minister to impose ban on it in Bangladesh.
She expressed dissatisfaction as its sale still underway in our country with discount though banned in many countries.
