HILI (DINAJPUR): Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members detained 21 Bangladeshi nationals, who were returning home from India illegally, in Hili-Birampur Tempo stand area on Hili border Saturday morning.
BGB also seized Indian Rs 22,400, Bangladeshi Tk 500 and 21 mobile phone set.
The detainees were identified as Saidul Islam (25), Mobarak Hossain (25), Rezabul Islam (40), Shahjahan Ali (30), Jewel Rana (27), Faruk Hossain (25), Babul Hossain (18), Dulal Hossain (28), Mahen Chandra (22), Jamal Hossain (18), Nasir Islam (20), Mantu Mia (20), Jaynul Haque (20), Azizul Islam (19), Enamul Haque (22), Azizul Haque (45) and Jahangir Hossain (18) of Haripur upazila and Tariqul Islam (20), Jagen Chandra Roy (19) and Dhaniram (50) of Ranishangkoil upazila of Thakurgaon district and Bimal Chandra Roy of Dinajpur district.
The detainees said that they illegally went to India for work. They were returning home to celebrate upcoming Eid festival. Later, BGB men detained them from Hili-Birampur Tempo stand area.
BGB Hili check-post camp commander Nayek Subedar Abdul Jabbar said that on information, they conducted a drive, led by Habildar Amirul Islam, at a house in Hili-Birampur Tempo stand area and detained 21 people.
