DHAKA: Metropolitan detective branch of (DB) police detained two muggers with firearms and a mugged private car in a drive conducted in city’s Uttara area.

The detainees have been identified as Mohammad Towhidul Islam alias Ranti and Mohammad Alam Bhandari.

Moreover, the law enforcers have seized a foreign-made pistol and three rounds of bullet from the possession of the detainees.

The drive was conducted on Monday early morning by police inspector Mahabub-ur-Rashid following the instruction of DB (west) deputy commissioner Sajjadur Rahman.

DB police sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.

According to the sources, after primary interrogation, the muggers confessed that they hijacked the private car some days earlier, and they went out with the car for mugging on Sunday night.

The detainees are also accused in several cases, the sources added.
