SYLHET: A Sylhet court on Wednesday placed Choukidar Moyna Mia alias Boro Moyna on seven-day remand in the case for torturing Rajon to death in Kumargaon area of the city.
Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 judge Shahidul Islam granted the remand plea around 2:30pm after hearing.
Earlier, OC (investigation) Alamgir Hossain, also Investigating Officer of the case, produced Moyna before the court with a 10-day remand petition.
Prior to that, Muhit, another accused of the case, was also placed on a five-day remand.
Jalalabad Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Akhter Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Moyna Mia, son of late Monaullah of Pirpur village under Jalalabad Thana of Sylhet and also the 4th no. accused in the Rajon Killing case, was detained from Tukerbazar area, outskirt of Sylhet city, around 10:15pm Tuesday.
On July 8, Samiul Islam Rajon, 13, was beaten to death in accusation of stealing a rickshaw van at Kumargaon of Sylhet sadar upazila.
A 28-minute video clip on the brutal torture to the boy to death has gone viral on the internet, creating a firestorm on the social media.
Earlier on July 8, locals caught one Muhit Alam (22) when he was taking the body in a microbus (Dhaka Metro-Cha-54-0516) to dump outside. Then they handed over him to the police.
