DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 200 kilograms of the banned Piranha fish and 500 kg Jelly mixed shrimps from Karwan Bazar in the capital Sunday.

RAB-2 mobile court fined five wholesale fish traders Tk 1.20 lakh on spot for selling the banned and contaminated fish.

A mobile court in an anti-adulteration drive seized 56 kilograms of banned piranha fish and arrested three businessmen on charges of selling them in the local market in Joypurhat.

Rab sources said the drive is being conducted jointly by the members of RAB-2, Fisheries Department from Sunday dawn at Karwan bazar.

Confirming the matter, RAB-2 headquarters company commander D Didarul Alam told banglanews that acting on tip off, a huge consignment of banned Piranha and jelly mixed shrimps was heading towards the city kitchen market and conducted the joint drives.
