DHAKA: Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as a low has formed over North Bay and adjoining Bangladesh coast.
Under its influences, deep convection is taking place over North Bay. Squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, says a marine warning message issued by met office.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
The met office also said due to active monsoon over southern part of Bangladesh, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Chittagong division during next 24 hrs commencing 10 am Sunday.
Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong division.
According to Inland Riverport Warning, in association with rain or thunder showers temporary south or south-easterly squalls speed 60-80 kph is likely to occur over the regions of Dhaka, Jessore, Faridpur, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong And Cox’s Bazar wherein riverports shall hoist riverine warning signal number two.
Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary south/south-easterly gusty or squally wind speed 45-60 kph is likely to occur elsewhere over the country wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal number one, it added.
