SUNAMGANJ: At least three people including a mother and her daughter died as a boat was capsized in a haor area in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district on Sunday afternoon.

Moreover, a woman is also missing in the accident.

The deceased are identified as Sabina Akhtar (26), wife of Imrul Mia, their daughter Jony (5) and Preti (3), daughter of Sadiqur Rahman of Dhampur village of Shalla upazila.

The missing woman is identified as Josna Begum (27), wife of Kobi Mia of the same village.

Shalla Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Anisur Rahman told banglanews that Sabina and others were going from Ajmeriganj of Habiganj to their house in Shalla by an engine-driven boat.

According to the OC, a gusty wind caused the accident in Sapta Beel of a haor area, he added.

Police are also working to rescue the woman, he added.
