PANCHAGARH: Lightning killed a girl and hurt her mother and sister in Boda upazila of Panchgarh district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Tania Akhtar (17), daughter of Salequl Islam and also a student of class X at Chandanbari High School of the upazila.

Family and hospital sources said that Salequl Islam’s wife Laili Begum and two daughters Sabina Akhtar and Tania Akhtar were working at kitchen.

A thunderbolt stroke them leaving the trio injured.

Later, locals rushed them to Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared Tania dead.

The other victims are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Chandanbari Union Parishad chairman Moazzem Hossain Babul confirmed the matter to banglanews.
