DHAKA: “Bangabandhu means inspiration, but sadly finished,” quipped Dr David Tuffley of Griffith University of Australia about Bangladesh father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Dr Tuffley talked to Banglanews on Saturday while enjoying a three-day show of Bangabandhu’s rare photographs, organized by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), at the South Plaza of National Parliament.

Ignoring the scorching sun, like many others, Tuffley was watching the photographs with rapt attention.

The Australian professor said he knew Bangabandhu as a source of inspiration. “Bangabandhu means a chapter full of inspirations that had a sad end”.

“If the theme inspiration had a body, it would have looked like Bangabandhu,” he admired.

Professor Tuffley also said, “It really is an amazing thing how one person unified the dreams of a nation through his mesmerizing voice, emotion and love and at last, they liberated a country!”

He believes the ideology of Sheikh Mujib is still relevant for the youth of Bangladesh in building the country.

Lauding the initiative he said, “It is good as children are roaming and learning playfully.”

Business development manager of Australian High Commission to Bangladesh Mostafizur Rahman was assisting Dr Tuffely in understanding the captions of the photographs that were written in Bangla.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the program August 13 to remain open from 11:00am to 10:00pm till Saturday.
