CHITTAGONG: Customs authorities detained a man with 25 gold bars weighing 3-kg at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong on Saturday evening.

The detainee was identified as Absar Mia, a passenger of Oman Air.

Chittagong customs deputy commissioner Minhaz Uddin Pahloan said Absar landed at Shah Amanat around 6:45pm.

On tip-off, they searched him and found the gold, worth of Tk 1.25-crore, wrapped with black tape in the detainee’s bag, he added.

According to the customs official, the detainee is now under their custody.
