DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal Thursday issued death warrants against the convicted war criminals BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
Tribunal registrar will send the two death warrants to jail authorities, ministries for law and home affairs.
As per the warrant, jail authorities will start next process to execute the death penalty of the two war criminals.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court (SC) released full appeal-verdicts against death penalty to Ali Ahsan Mujahid and Salauddin Quader Chy for war crimes.
The convicts can seek review of the apex court verdict within the next 15 days.
On July 17 in 2013, ICT-2 found the Jamaat secretary general Mujahid guilty of five out of seven charges brought against him. The tribunal sentenced him to death on three charges.
While On October 1 in 2013, ICT-1 found the 65-year-old Salauddin guilty on nine of 23 charges of crimes against humanity and genocide committed during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
