Nuclear scientist CS Karim passes away

DHAKA: Nuclear scientist Dr Chowdhury Sajjadul (CS) Karim, also former advisor to a caretaker government, has died at city hospital on Friday night. He was 67.  

Syed Minhas, nephew of CS Karim, said his uncle breathed his last around 10:45pm at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital at Dhanmondi in the city.

Shabab Karin, only son of CS Karim, said his father had suffered from pneumonia for a week. He was admitted to the aforesaid hospital on Thursday night as his condition deteriorated.

Then,  he had a cardiac attack on Friday night. Later, he had been kept on life support at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of hospital.

His body has been kept at mortuary of Al Marzakul Islamin Hospital in Shyamoli of the city.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital around 11:00am of Saturday.

Then, he will be buried at Banani graveyard.

He was chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and also member of International Atomic Energy Agency.
