DHAKA: Prosecution will file review petition seeking death penalty of Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Delawar Hossain Sayedee after publishing full verdict of appeal case.
“In the review petition, we will seek uphold of death penalty for Sayedee,” said Attorney General Mahbubey Alam.
On September 17, the Supreme Court awarded Sayedee to imprisonment till death lessening the death sentence given by ICT for his crimes against humanity committed during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
The full verdict will be published soon. Then prosecution and defense both have chance to file review petition.
The Attorney general, while talking to reporters at his officer on Sunday, said prosecution will file review petition. Death penalty for Sayedee will be upheld in response to the petition, he hoped.
