CHITTAGONG: The authorities of Bangladesh Railway (east zone) constituted a three-member investigation committee over the train accident that killed one person at Barabkunda area in Sitakunda Upazila of the district early Tuesday.

Additional transport officer of Railway (east zone) Rokonuzzaman told banglanews that Divisional Engineer Abidur Rahman will lead the committee.



Other members of the committee are: divisional transport officer Iftekhar and divisional mechanical engineer Saiful Islam.

The committee was asked to submit report within the shortest possible time.



Earlier in the day, an unidentified person was killed in a collision between a passenger train and a covered van at Barabkunda area in Sitakunda Upazila.



Chittagong railway station manager Abul Kalam Azad told banglanews that following the accident around 5:30am, four compartments of the train were derailed snapping the rail link with Dhaka.
