DHAKA: The son and daughter of eminent educationist-couple Dr Zafar Iqbal and Dr Yasmin Haque expressed their deep condemnation over the attack on the teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

After three days of August 30 attack, they published the letter on Facebook wall of Samay Prakashan proprietor Farid Ahmed on Tuesday (September 1).

The couple’s daughter Yeshim Iqbal is a doctoral student of New York University while son Dr Nabil Iqbal is a student of University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

They said, ‘In the letter, we, the son and daughter of Dr Yasmin Haque, condemn the behavior conducted on the teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology’.

‘We had the opportunity to grow up on the (SUST) campus as children of an academician couple. We have seen how the teachers have worked hard to nourish the students with love and affection along with their academic responsibilities.’

‘We are deeply shocked seeing a group of students assaulted the teachers as the return of the teachers’ love and affection.’

They further wrote that they cannot accept the attack by the students on their mother on the campus where they share many sweet memories.
