CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court placed businessman Enamul Haque who was detained on allegation of providing financial support to militant organization Shaheed Hamza Brigade on five day remand.
Banshkhali senior judicial magistrate Sajjad Hossain passed the order on Sunday after hearing a seven-day remand petition of RAB.
RAB Chittagong Zone director lieutenant colonel Miftah Uddin Ahmed told banglanews that after the court granted five-day remand, he was taken to RAB office for interrogation.
Earlier on Saturday, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 detained him from Turag area of Tongi in Gazipur around 10:00am for depositing Tk16-lakh to a bank accent of a organizer of Shaheed Hamza Brigade in August, 2014.
Lieutenant colonel Miftah Uddin Ahmed said the apparel businessman was arrested after evidence of financing militancy was found against him.
Earlier on August 18, three lawyers, including Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Shakila Farzana, were arrested from capital’s Dhanmondi area on allegation of providing Tk 1.8-crore to Shaheed Hamza Brigade.
Two others include Hasanuzzaman Chowdhury Liton and Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapan.
