DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) will commence the program of updating voter lists in city from Monday (September 07).

EC public relations department director SM Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews on Sunday.

He said the commission has completed collecting information from door to door for updating the lists in 376 upazilas till this date.

The updating process will begin in Dhaka city and 138 upazilas from September 7 and continue till September 20.

Moreover, process of registrations with photographs will begin on September 30 and continue till October 20.

For the first time, EC is collecting information of people under 18 years old, who will later be included in the voter-list after the completion of 18 years of their age.

However, the EC is set to collect information of at least 72 lakhs people under this updating program, to cost Tk 81-crore.
