DHAKA: Consular (Hajj) Mohammad Asaduzzaman of Bangladesh consulate in Jeddah said they feared the death of Bangladeshi pilgrims as the number of victims was gradually increasing.
Meanwhile, several media reports said a Bangladeshi pilgrim Firoza Khanam has died in stampede in Mina near Makkah during hajj performance on Thursday.
But Bangladesh embassy in Saudi Arabia could not confirm the matter.
Earlier, Bangladesh ambassador to Saudi Arabia Golam Moshi told banglanews over cell phone that at least eight injured pilgrims have been identified as Bangladeshis.
They are under medical treatment, he added.
According to him, other Bangladesh embassy officials are also working in this regard.
‘We cannot confirm the number of Bangladeshis as Saudi authorities did not make the final list of the stampede victims,’ Mohammad Asaduzzaman said.
However, several media reports said that a Bangladeshi pilgrim Firoza Khanam has died in hajj stampede.
But the embassy official could not confirm it.
