SIRAJGANJ: A man and his seven-year-old son drowned in river Karatoya in municipality area of Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district Sunday noon.

The deceased were identified as Hasu, 30, Satbaria village of the upazila and his son Shakil, 7.

Locals said Shakil slipped into the river after coming here with his father to take a bath. Father jumped into the river to save son and went missing.

Noticing their floating bodies around 2:30pm, locals informed the police.

Ullapara Model Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Dewan Kawsik Ahmed told banglanews that on information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Process is underway to hand over the bodies to family members through local representatives, he added.
