DHAKA: Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) said that Bangladesh’s role at COP-21 is up due to the PM Sheikh Hasina’s reception of UN-sponsored ‘Champion of the Earth’.
The anti-graft body made this remark at a press conference in its conference hall in city on Thursday.
According to the organization, transparency and accountability should be ensured in implementing the promises of the developed nations regarding the climate change fund as well as using the fund by the affected countries including Bangladesh.
The press conference was held on Bangladesh’s role and responsibilities in the upcoming COP-21 climate summit in Paris.
TIB climate finance coordinator M Zakir Hossain presented written speech at the conference.
TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman and deputy executive director Sumaiya Khayer also spoke at the conference.
Congratulating the PM for her achievement of ‘Champion of the Earth’ award, Dr Iftekharuzzaman said that Bangladesh can lead the other affected nations to safeguard their interest due to the success in this sector.
However, world climate summit with the participation of 196 countries will be held in Pairs from November 30 to December 11.
